Difference Between Sanxing FD5 and FD5-DW Linear Actuators

Sanxing FD5 vs FD5-DW Linear Actuator, the appearance of Sanxing FD5 and FD5-DW is similar, but their parameters have slight differences. The most significant distinction is that the FD5-DW model is equipped with a Potentiometer, which can accurately feedback the stroke position during operation.
A potentiometer is a type of variable resistor. It typically consists of a resistive element and a moving contact (rotating or sliding). As the contact moves along the resistor, it outputs a corresponding partial voltage, enabling precise position feedback and real-time status display for the actuator.
Main Functions of the Potentiometer:
- Voltage Regulation: Adjusts both DC power supply voltage and control signal voltage.
- Current Control: Regulates the operating current of the actuator for stable performance.

🔹 Working Principle
The motor drives the small wire rod mounted on the inner tube via gear reduction. It then drives the axial nut connected to it. When the stroke reaches the set position, the nut touches the limit switch to cut off the power supply, stopping the motor (the reverse operation works the same way).
The potentiometer function is optional for the FD5-DW linear actuator. It serves to display the real-time travel status and operating position of the actuator, providing higher precision for applications requiring position feedback.
